About the Role:

As a Data Engineer at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in building data infrastructure and solutions that empower insights and product improvements across Meta’s suite of applications, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Reality Labs. You’ll be responsible for working with vast data sets, solving complex data challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable, high-performance data systems.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and data scientists to gather and understand data requirements.
• Design and launch sophisticated data models, pipelines, and visualizations for multiple use cases across various product teams.
• Define and maintain SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for datasets under your ownership.
• Solve data integration challenges by designing optimal ETL patterns and leveraging structured/unstructured data sources.
• Improve logging practices to enhance data quality and observability.
• Optimize and maintain production data workflows, and develop scalable pipelines and dashboards.
• Use data-driven storytelling to influence product direction and strategic decisions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data-centric roles such as data engineer, data analyst, or data scientist.
• Proven expertise in SQL and data modeling.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, C++, C#, or Scala.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Preferred: Master’s or Ph.D. in a STEM discipline.
